Movies on Osama Bin Laden

So Osama was declared dead and the world rejoiced with the end of one of the most dreaded terroristsof all times. People directly or indirectly affected (and even those whose lives were not exactly affected by Osama) were pleased that he was killed. It took US 10 years, but as Obama said, justice was done.

Now what? Is it the end of Osama? Not exactly. As far as his name is concerned, it will find its place in discussions related to curbing terrorism, history books and last but not the least - MOVIES!

How could Bollywood and Hollywood resist the temptation to make movies on Osama! After all, everything about Osama was very 'dramatic'... what he did was pathetic... unforgivable, what was done to him brought joy, but it all was very dramatic.

The crashing of two planes into the Twin Towers of New York's World Trade Center and the search for Osama has already given birth to many Bollywood and Hollywood flicks including:

  • Documentary film 9/11
  • Morgan Spurlock's Where in the World is Osama Bin Laden
  • Kathryn Bigelow's Kill Bin Laden
  • George Clooney's The Challenge
  • Abhishek Sharma's Tere Bin Laden
  • Kabir Khan's New York

The above films focussed on the attacks, their impact on several lives and relationships and the search for Osama.

But now, the filmmakers have a 'happy ending' for the OBL movies. So we can expect a new set of movies that will be more 'complete'. Well, the world knows the story, there's no suspense whatsover and the end is known too, so whether these movies will serve filmmakers' purpose of earning name, fame and wealth is to be seen. But firstly, will people want to watch films on Osama that will cover all that we know on a big screen? All the cruelty, brutality and sorrow? Well I don't have the courage... I couldn't watch 9/11 or New York... not even on the small screen! But let's see what the moviemakers have to offer, they must be having some plans already up their sleeves!
